For light trails, name the source and the colour of the streaks. Set the scene at night or dusk, because in daylight the effect disappears.

Keep the buildings, lamp posts and road surface explicitly sharp. In a real shot the camera sits on a tripod, so the fixed surroundings are crisp while only the traffic smears. If you don't ask for that, the model sometimes blurs the whole frame.

Keep your subject sharp
